For the last two drill nights, members of Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company have been sharpening their skills during HazMat Operators Refresher training. From classroom review and response operations, our crew has been focused on staying prepared for hazardous materials incidents in our community and beyond.
One evening included a valuable review of industrial and compressed gases, and we’d like to thank Airgas for hosting our members and helping provide practical insight into the products, hazards, and safety considerations we may encounter on emergency scenes.
While our members are attending our annual banquet this evening, our stations remains in good hands.
Huge thank you to Chalfont Fire Company for stepping in and covering our local. We truly appreciate the support tonight.
Not all volunteer roles are front-facing and that’s exactly why they matter.
National Volunteer Week is a great reminder that it takes more than what you see on a call to keep a fire company running. While many of our members serve in multiple roles, today we want to recognize the volunteers working behind the scenes handling finances, administration, fundraising, logistics, and everything in between.
These are the people keeping things organized, supported, and moving forward every day. Their work may not always be visible, but it is absolutely essential to everything we do.
We’re grateful for each of you and the impact you make on our department and our community.

We’re kicking off our new series, The People Behind the Pager, highlighting the volunteers who make PVFC what it is, and first up is Brendan.
He joined to honor a close friend lost in the line of duty and to show his kids what it means to give back. Brendan enjoys visiting local schools and daycares to teach fire safety and connect with kids in our community. He’s currently finishing driver training and is interested in rope rescue. His most memorable call was the Lahaska brush fire, his first time seeing an incident of that scale. Like all of our members, Brendan is a volunteer who responds when needed to ensure others are safe. Outside the firehouse, he’s a Financial Advisor and a dedicated dad. When asked to describe PVFC in one word, he said determined, and that says it all.
Ever thought about serving your community like this?
