We are saddened to hear about the passing of one of our mutual aid brothers. Our deepest sympathies are with our brothers and sisters at Midway Volunteer Fire CompanyThe Officers and Members of the Midway Volunteer Fire Company regret to announce the passing of Life Member and Active Member Ron Ewer on Thursday, March 2, 2023.
Ron joined the fire company at 16 as a junior firefighter and was still active with 57 years of service at the time of his passing. Over the years, Ron had many duties with the organization. Ron served as Firefighter, Driver, Engineer, Chief Engineer, and Driver Training Instructor on the Fire Side. On the Administrative side, he served as a Trustee on two different occasions, the last time for 12 years ending in December 2022 and was a member of the Executive Board.
Ron was always around and there for all the company’s fund-raising activities, including carnival and roast beef dinners. In addition, he set up many other activities and functions at the firehouse.
Ron was a significant part of the Midway Volunteer Fire Company and the Community. For all that he has contributed over the years he will be greatly missed.
Admin note;
Ron’s stories, impressions and constant jokes & puns were part of the fabric of life in the firehouse. We hope that you will share your “Ron Stories” with us here.
Ron would often remark “It’s a pleasure for you to meet me!”
Yes Ron, it certainly was.
